The Mask of the Experience of Life
We do remember the childhood game in which we made holes on a paper bag to make a mask. We also remember that due to its safe space inside, having worn that mask, we would do actions one could not do without.
Having experience this sense of security, in which the outer world does not observe us, grows with in us and follows us to adolescence. this toy-like mask gradually becomes a part of our conscious personality, a place to take refuge when our values are compromised. By the passing of time, the aforementioned mask consolidates and turns into a behavioral pattern, and we relinquish the presence of the playing mask. Consequently, the deeper we drown in the reality of our lives, the further we will be form the truth.
For long i have tried to give meaning to my being with different faces, but alas i could not. In life, everyone carries different masks ludicrous, horrifying, glamorous and so forth but after coming of age, one has no need for a clown and holding on to others his real face springs out of his last mask (Sadegh Hedayat).
